Ahmedabad, Aug 29 (ANI): The Gujarat High Court has ordered a CID probe into the custodial death of a Patel youth detained from Bapunagar area of Ahmedabad on August 25. The youth was picked up following clashes with the police in connection with the Patidar Maha rally on the reservation issue. According to post-mortem reports, the youth, Shwetang Patel’s death took place due to a head injury. The court also ordered Bapunagar police station to record an FIR into the custodial killing of the youth. Curfews, which were imposed after the agitation by the Patel community seeking reservation under OBC quota turned violent, have been lifted from three out of nine Police station areas. Meanwhile, convener of Patidar Anamat Andolan Samiti, which organised the mass rally, Hardik Patel, accused the state police of acting violently. He demanded action against police officers responsible for the deaths of protesters.
