Historic land swap between India, Bangladesh comes into force at midnight

Cooch Behar, August 01 (ANI): Bangladesh and India swapped adversely-held enclaves, thus marking the implementation of historic landmark land boundary agreement (LBA) between the two countries. Under the deal singed in June, the two nations exchanged some 200 tiny enclaves dotted around the border. Their inhabitants had been earlier deprived of public services and were living in squalid conditions. Officials of the two countries hoisted their respective national flags in the enclaves at one minute past midnight on Friday to assume sovereignty. Meanwhile, the villagers have been holding feasts and rehearsing their new national anthems.
