Nearly 163 fishermen released by Pakistan reach India

Wagah Border, Aug 04 (ANI): Nearly 163 fishermen released by Pakistan entered India through Wagah border on Tuesday with mixed feelings because some of their friends were still in prisons. The fishermen were arrested nearly 10 months ago when they strayed into Pakistan’s territorial water while looking for catch. The release comes in wake of an interaction between Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi in Ufa, Russia, in which it was agreed to release the detained fishermen of the two countries. According to Pakistani jail officials, the fishermen freed on Sunday include three minors and 160 adults. Eight of the fishermen are Muslims. The fishermen hoped for harmonious relationship between the two countries. The fishermen will be leaving for their native places later in the day.
