Security forces recover 95 IEDs in Jharkhand

Latehar, Aug 09 (ANI): Indian security forces recovered 95 improvised explosives (IEDs) in a stronghold of Maoist rebels fighting for self-rule. The recoveries were made from Ichak village in Latehar district of Jharkhand. Senior police officials said on Sunday the explosives weighed 95 kilograms and were meant to cause a major explosion ahead of the Independence Day on August 15. Assistant Superintendent of Police, Manis Bharti said the explosives were set up to target security personnel. The Maoists, also known as ‘Naxals’ in India, seek the violent overthrow of the Indian state and have fought authorities for decades, particularly in rural areas of central and eastern India where they enjoy some support.
