Skill training to help women earn their livelihood

Siliguri, May 27 (ANI): At the time when the government is struggling to provide employment to the deprived and poor, fashion designer Alka Sharma of Bagdogra, 20km from Siliguri under Darjeeling district of West-Bengal, is providing free training to about 34 unemployed women from various regions of Darjeeling. Alka member of “Bagdogra Paradristhi Society” a local NGO which works for the deprived women, is working tirelessly since 2008 providing free training about fashion designing, tailoring, embodying, weaving art and craft. With this unique concept, Alka’s efforts to add colours to the fading Indian and Nepali traditional dresses have become successful to attract the young fashion lovers. Till now more than 60 unemployed women have become self-reliant and now earning their livelihood by opening their own centers.
