Despite ban, PoP Ganesh idols flood Hubli markets

Hubli (Karnataka), Aug 25 (ANI): Despite being banned, statues of Ganesha made of plaster of Paris (PoP) could be seen in the market in Hubli ahead of Ganesh Chaturthi, which is a popular festival in Maharashtra and Karnataka. Establishing of Ganpati’s clay sculpture is an ancient tradition but now a day the statues are made by plaster of Paris rather than clay as statues made out of PoP looks good but it contaminates water and doesn’t dissolve easily. An effort is still going on to implement the ban on use of plaster of Paris statues.
