Cauvery row: SC directs Karnataka to release 6,000 cusecs water for 3 days

New Delhi, Sep 27 (ANI): In the latest development in connection to the Cauvery row, the Supreme Court on Tuesday redirected the Karnataka Government to release 6,000 cusecs of river water to Tamil Nadu for next three days. The next hearing in the case is scheduled for Friday. Parts of the two states have witnessed a series of protests, shutdowns and curfew after agitations gripped the region following the apex court’s order on the issue. A number of vehicles were burnt and public properties were destroyed during the mass agitation staged by local residents and pro-Kannada organisations. The protests began after the apex court ordered Karnataka to release 12,000 cusecs of water against its previous decision of 15,000 cusecs. A Cauvery Supervisory Committee (CSC) was also constituted in connection to the issue.
