Dalits, tribals celebrate Diwali together in temple to break discrimination

Coimbatore, Oct 28 (ANI): Setting up an example of good faith, Diwali celebration was held in Coimbatore on Thursday to break off discrimination against Dalits in temples. Hundreds of Dalits , Tribals and other community people jointly celebrated Deepawali at Koniamman Temple in Coimbatore while sharing sweets and clothes. They even busted crackers as part of the celebrations. The Dalits and the tribals celebrating Diwali said though they called themselves Hindus, still they remained divided communally and economically and this celebration was to break the shackles of discrimination.
