Jewellery shops crowded with people buying gold on Dhanteras

Mumbai/ Ahmedabad, Oct 28 (ANI): On the auspicious occasion of Dhanteras, people flocked to jewellery showrooms to purchase gold and gold-made ornaments. Dhantrayodashi, which falls ahead of Diwali, is considered auspicious to buy jewellery and other precious metal items. Compared to last Diwali, gold prices have gone higher this year. Celebrated across parts of India and Nepal, Dhanteras fall on the 13th lunar day of Kartik month of Saka calendar. Diwali, the festival of lights, contributes nearly 15-20 per cent of India’s overall demand for gold across the year.
