International Bird Festival in UP attracts ornithologists

Agra (UP), Dec 03 (ANI): In an attempt to promote Uttar Pradesh as an international bird watching destination, UP Eco-tourism has organized a three-day international festival on birds from 2nd to 4th December 2016 at the National Chambal Sanctuary near Agra. In a bid to highlight the unique biodiversity of the state, UP Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav took this initiative in 2015. The splendid bird festival is now in its second year and the exuberance has not diminished so far. Organised on the grounds of Chambal Safari Lodge, merely 45 minutes away from Taj Mahal, the fest is a great introduction to the paradise of the astounding Chambal Valley where around 330 species of birds make their permanent or temporary home throughout the year. The festival in 2015 attracted the ornithologists, photographers, birding enthusiasts, and wildlife artists from across the countries like USA, UK, Australia, Netherlands, Spain, Germany, Sri Lanka, Nepal etc. It also fascinated visitors from local schools, colleges, institutions, as well as nature and wildlife conservation agencies. The UP Bird Festival is definitely one of the ‘not to be missed’ events on the International Birding calendar.
