Protests in Nepal over tabling of Constitution amendment bill

Kathmandu, Dec 03 (ANI): With disgruntled parties rejecting the Constitution amendment proposal, people residing in the hilly regions of Nepal have reacted angrily to its tabling by the government. The opposition CPN-UML has already started to demonstrate in parliament along with its student wing on road. All Nepal National Free Students Union (ANNFSU), the student wing of CPN-UML has started a protest in front of various governments owned educational institution. They are chanting slogans against the government’s move to change the territory of state no. 5 and demanding the resignation of Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal. They are blaming the government in an attempt to split the country with the changes in the territory. All Nepal National Free Students Union have also directed all its cadres and division in capital to demonstrate in front of the educational institution blocking the traffic. With the tension increasing across the country, the government has beefed up the security around the educational institutions and the capital. Locals of hilly district of Gulmi, Dang, Palpa, Argakhanchi, Rolpa and Pyuthan came out on the road and called for strike until the government steps back from its decision of splitting the district territories.
