Bihar boy enslaved for 2 months in Himachal Pradesh

Child LabourersExploitation of the child laborers is not uncommon. An incident of Child Labour and Slavery has been recently reported in Bapugram village near Fatehpur Police Station of Gaya district. Jamuna (aged 11 years), the son of Harinandan Manjhi was lured for getting free education by a local person (agent) Prakash Manjhi, two months ago. Prakash told them that there was a organization in Himachal which provided free education to poor children. Harinandan was reluctant to let his son go but the desire of getting his son educated, forced him to do so. However, he secretly followed them till Manali bus depot in Himachal Pradesh, where he felt something suspiscious. He then asked him to give his child back. However, Prakash and other agents forced him to return back offering him Rs 7000. Later, he sold Jamuna to Dorje Angrup a resident of Lapchang village in Lahaul district of Himachal Pradesh . Jamuna had to perform heavy works like carrying bundles of sticks on his back to the high mountain terrains in the cold climate daily. He was not even given food properly. Soon, he fell ill. It was only then Dorge called Jamuna’s father and asked him to take his son back in return of Rs 14000. Poor Harinandan could only manage Rs 9000 and when he reached Lapchang , he was not allowed to take his ailing son back. As a deal , he offered to enslave himself and work for Dorge in return of freeing his son, Jamuna.

Rightnow, Harinandan is working as slave to Dorge Angrup in Himachal Pradesh while Jamuna has returned back with a local villager. While we can praise it on the parts of Harinandan, can the action of Dorge be justified? Slavery has been banned by law much earlier but still it is gracefully practiced in India. Well we came to know of the mobile number of Dorge Angarup. It is
09418972377. Now you think you can help this poor man!!!
