Global Bihar Summit  2012 is becoming a political war front . While  Bihar CM Nitish took it as a weapon to emphasize his long cherished  demand  of the special category status to Bihar and urged the Central Bureaucrats to support him, opposition parties have termed it as sheer waste of money and show-off.
Earlier Left parties showed their dissentment towards the meet, and now the Lalu Prasad Yadav has questioned the very need of such a meet. He argued that Bihar Government had  hosted a similar summit on “Resurgent Bihar” 5 years back but nothing came off out of it. Not not a single investor came to Bihar.
The opposition point gets a boost in view of the fact that both CM and Deputy CM Â have reiterated that no investment proposals or MoU would be signed during the 3 day summit.
Editorial Comments
Most of the guests in the summit are top Business tycoons, NRIs and various celebrities of International Repute. A visit by them would definitely boost the image of Bihar in the outside world.
Besides if we closely watch some of the guests like  Infosys former chief N.R. Narayana Murthy, IT major Wipro Technologies chairman Azim Premji, Aditya Birla groupchairman Kumar Manglam Birla,  Securities and Exchange Board of India chairman U.K. Sinha, economist Lord Meghnad Desai and Liquor Baron  Lord Karan Bilimoria, it can be easily inferred that  this summit can trigger a multitude of  Investment proposals in near future.
Godrej Agrovet is setting up a Rs 70-crore cattle and poultry feed mill at Hajipur, across the Ganga river from Patna.  Biscuit major Britannia  is also setting up a 50,000-tonne bakery at Hajipur.
Lord Karan Bilmoria has already given a nod to setup a brewary plant in Bihar while IT Major Infosys is very soon going to start its center near Bihta, Patna.
Ruchi Soya, the Mumbai based Rs 11,700 crore FMCGÂ group, best known for its edible oils, is pumping Rs 200 crore into setting up agro-processing centres at Kaimur, 170 km northwest of Patna,
In these scenario, this summit would definitely outcome fruitful results.
