Indian Political Leaders have condoled the sad demise of Bollywood Superstar Rajesh Khanna. Khanna also had a stint with politics after he stopped acting from early nineties. He won the Lok Sabha seat from New Delhi constituency in the 1991 elections. Not an single big Political leader could skip condoling his Death.
Congress president Sonia Gandhi expressed her heart felt condolences to the bereaved family of Khanna.
“Congress president Sonia Gandhi has expressed her deep sorrow and grief on the demise of Shri Rajesh Khanna,” A statement statement said.
West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee recollected her association with the Bollywood star and said he was “very fun loving”.
“I had known Rajeshji for a long time. I still remember my association with Rajesh Khanna when both of us were elected to Lok Sabha as Congress MPs. He was very fun loving and used to make others laugh,” said Banerjee.
“During that time we used to chat for long hours in the central hall of parliament. I had once invited him for a party programme. He told me that he would come after dressing smartly by applying all kindS of make-up,” said Banerjee.
“I remember his smiling face. The way he entertained cine lovers over the years, that was something,” she added.
Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on expressed profound shock at the passing away of Yesteryear Bollywood superstar Rajesh Khanna.
“His death has caused irreparable loss to Hindi cinema” Kumar said in his condolence message.
Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi has also mourned the death of veteran actor Rajesh Khanna, saying the superstar ruled the hearts of millions with his unique charm.
“With his unique persona, Rajesh Khannaji made a special and unforgettable place in the hearts of Indians! May his soul rest in peace,” Modi tweeted.
Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan said Rajesh Khanna’s demise spells the end of an era in Bollywood.
“When he was elected MP from New Delhi and till his tenure ended, he did not accept a single movie assignment, and he campaigned for me twice in Karad Lok Sabha constituency,” said Chavan adding that Rajesh Khanna achieved stardom in a relatively short period and besides the film industry, ruled over the hearts of millions of fans.
Senior BJP leader L.K Advani on condoled the demise of Bollywood icon Rajesh Khanna.
“I convey my condolences to his family. People will remember him for his work in films. There is no doubt about this, he was the greatest actor of Bollywood. Everyone was so fond of him “.
