How to use UID Aadhaar for opening Bank Accounts ?

UID Aadhaar photosUnique ID or Aadhaar is the new face of Identity Management for the citizens of India. Sooner or later it would replace all forms of Identification mechanisms. It has been created to provide a single identification mechanism for availing all services which require an identity verification.

Once Reserve Bank of India notifies the use of Aadhaar as Identification mechanism in banks, opening accounts in banks would become hasslefree.

Steps to be followed
1. Visit the Bank
2. Ask for a Account Opening Form and Fill it with your UID No.
3. Swipe on the UID Aadhaar device kept on the bank
4.Your account would be ready in few minutes

Similar procedure has to be followed for availing loans or any such transaction.

Aadhaar wouls be subsequently used for

1. Getting a Mobile Connection
2. Buying an Insurance Policy
3. Getting an LPG Connection
4. Applying for a Driving License
5. Getting a Passport

Under the Aadhaar authentication process, the 12-digit number, along with other attributes, including biometrics, are available with the Central Identities Data Repository. Once the information is sought by scanning the fingerprints, the platform will send a ” Yes” or “No” message to the vendor which could be a bank or a telecom company.

Can it be applied online?

Can anyone use Aadhaar for verification purposes ?

Yes, technically anyone who needs to verify the identity of Citizens of India can use Aadhaar. A set of API has been released for public use.Developers can use AAdhaar API to develop applications which verifies the information provided by an individual using their UID No. The API can be found here
