Kochi to host 3rd International Short Film Festival

Kochi would host the 3rd International Short Film Festival SCRIPT 2o13 from February 8. It is a unique festival for short films with socially relevant themes, are now open now.

The entries for films with a duration of 30-minute are open for five categories – Filmmakers, International Films, Students, Documentary and Mini/Ad films with a social message (two-minute).

The last day to submit is Nov 15, according to the organisers.

The detailed rules for entry is available on the festival website – www.scriptfilmfest.in, one of the organisers of the festival told IANS.

Into its third edition, the two-day festival will be held here from Feb 8 next year and it will be free for filmmakers and the audience.

Script 2013 will recognize and reward short films from across the world. These short films will deal with issues that are of global relevance.

Such a film festival is being unique in India. It will create awareness among the general public about social issues and persuade them to join cause in combating them.

Organised by the Rotary Club of Cochin Metropolis, based in the commercial capital of the state, the festival has now been approved by the Public Service Broadcasting Trust and the Indian Documentary Producers Association.

Kuala Lumpur International Short Film Festival is a partner for the event.

Almost anyone who has made or intends to make a short film on a socially relevant topic can participate. There are 5 categories:

Category 1: Film Makers
Category 2: International Films
Category 3: Students (Should produce certificate from College)
Category 4: Mini/ Ad Films with social message (Up to two minutes)
Category 5: Documentaries.

There will be separate competitions and recognitions for each category. No fee is required to participate inScript 2013.

All categories carry a cash prize Of Rs.25,000 for first winner and Rs.15,000 for the second along with the Golden Halo award.

Revathy, award-winning South Indian film personality, will head a four member jury which would include Aditya Sinha, Editor-in-Chief DNA and Manish Jhaveri, a noted Scriptwriter.

Last year’s edition of the festival saw some outstanding films being screened, including one from Green Oscar winner Mike Pandey.
