President Pranab Mukherjee today  launched Kisaan SMS Portal  which will broadcast Weather Forecast, Agricultural Advisories and other important alerts to over 12 crore farmers of the country. It has been launched in collaboration to Indian Council of Agriculture Research.
In order to use Kisaan SMS portal, you must have a valid Mobile Number. To register, you can call Kisan Call Center on the toll free number 1800-180-1551 and set your preferences about the alerts and location. Once done you will start getting the periodic  information from the ICAR.
If you are already listed in the database of Kisaan Call Center, you do not need to register again. Already 50 lakh farmers are registered through Kisaan Call Center. All of them received the Inaugural SMS of President Mukherjee today.
