Drones to help trace missing bodies in Mandi river tragedy

Mandi, June 14 (ANI): As the massive search for missing students intensified in Himachal Pradesh, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) deployed an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) to trace the bodies. 24 engineering students of a private engineering college of Hyderabad were swept away when the waters of river Beas suddenly spiked dangerously high following a release from the reservoir of 126 MW Larji hydropower project in Himachal Pradesh on June 08. An official of NDRF, Vairabha Nathan, said although the rescue teams are using UAV to locate the bodies, they are facing problems in GPS connectivity in the rugged topographical conditions.
