Patna: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has informed the parents of school girl Navruna, abducted two years ago from her home in Muzaffarpur, that she was killed soon after, the police announced.
The CBI officials have told her parents that DNA test has confirmed that a skeleton discovered near their house was hers, a district police officer said.
Navruna’s parents Atulya and Maitreyee Chakravarty told IANS over telephone that the CBI had told them that their daughter was killed soon after her abduction. Now the CBI should arrest the people behind her murder, they added.
“We want justice as we have been fighting for her. We will not sit silent till police arrest the accused,” they said.
Maitreyee Chakravarty said that her daughter was killed by the land mafia.
Navruna, a Class 7 student of a public school in Muzaffarpur, was abducted from her home in 2012.
Navruna’s parents repeatedly said property dealers had abducted her since they had refused to give up a prime land in Muzaffarpur.
After an initial probe by the crime investigation department, the Bihar government had last year ordered a CBI inquiry into the case.
