Port Louis: India pledged a concessional line of credit of USD 500 million for civil infrastructure projects in Mauritius on PM Narendra Modi’s visit to the island nation.
Modi, who is in Mauritius on a two-day bilateral visit, said both leaders had discussed shared interests of their countries in the Indian Ocean region. The two countries signed five agreements including on traditional medicine and homeopathy, cultural cooperation and ocean economy.
Mauritius PM, Anerood Jugnauth, spoke about India’s assistance to Mauritius to improve connectivity with its southern islands. Modi reached Port Louis earlier in the day, soon after which he called upon Mauritius President Rajkeswur Purryag.
Modi is scheduled to have extensive meetings with his counterpart Sir Anerood Jugnauth to discuss bilateral matters to strengthen ties between the nations.
