Moga/ Chandigarh: In a shameful incident a teenage girl along with her mother jumped off a bus in Moga district of Punjab to escape molesters. The girl succumbed to her injuries while her mother is undergoing treatment. The Chief Minister of Punjab Prakash Singh Badal said that two accused have been arrested.
According to reports, the mother and daughter were travelling in the bus to meet their family members, when one of the Assistant Bus Conductor started sexually harassing the woman. The Woman complained the Bus Conductor but he also sided with his deputy.
The aggrieved woman asked the Driver to stop the bus, the he didnot. After this, she jumped from the running bus to escape molestation, but got injured after falling down.
Some locals who saw her injured, took her to nearby hospital where the daughter died, while mother is battling for her life.
According to reports, the bus belongs to Orbit Aviation owned by Punjab’s deputy CM Sukhbir Badal. However the bus has been leased to another company for operation.
Women and Social activists on Thursday condemned this incident of molestation and death. Social Activist Jagmati Sangwan said that strict action should be taken not only against the accused but also the passengers who did not come to help the woman.
DCW Chairperson Barkha Shukla Singh said that justice process should be quickened and a feeling of safety should be induced in women. Social Activist Abha Singh said that action should also be taken against the owner of the bus service Deputy CM of Punjab as he cannot wipe off his responsibility in the issue.
