Narendra Modi’s China visit is his most Significant Foreign Trip: Expert

New Delhi: Chinese Affairs expert Alka Acharya on Thursday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to China is likely to be one of his most significant visits abroad, adding that the People’s Republic will soon be the biggest investor in Asia.

Prime Minister Modi, who is on the first leg of his three-nation tour of China, Mongolia and South Korea, began his visit to the People’s Republic by landing in Xi’an, the hometown of Chinese President Xi Jinping.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in China on the first leg of his six-day three nation tour early on Thursday morning visited Daxingshan Temple in Xi’an city.

Situated on Xingshansi West Street in the business quarter Xiaozhai of southern Xian, Daxingshan Temple is a pure and peaceful Buddhist space in the prosperous metropolis. Built in 265-289 in the Jin Dynasty, this temple is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in China and a birthplace of Chinese Tantric Buddhism.

With an area of 19 acres, the Temple has 243 halls and rooms for monks. In the temple, there are some kinds of trees with great value, beautiful flowers, famous paintings and stone tablets which record the restorations of the temple. Xi’an, the capital of Shaanxi province, is the first stop of his three-day China visit. PM Modi’s decision to start his trip from Shaanxi province is being seen as reciprocal gesture after Chinese President Xi Jinping had started his India trip from Gujarat, Modi’s home state.
