“We will not cease our efforts until we are absolutely sure that we’ve gone through every vehicle,” said Nutter during a news conference, Wednesday (May 12). He announced he spoke with U.S. President Obama who is pledging support at the federal level.

Federal investigators were reviewing data from the black box recovered from the wreckage to determine whether excessive speed played a role in the crash that killed at least six people and injured more than 200, officials said on Wednesday.

Speed is just one of several factors that the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) said it was examining. But a Reuters analysis of surveillance video found that the train was traveling much faster than the 50-mile-per-hour (80 kph) speed limit along the stretch of track where the accident occurred.
