Hundreds of tribals take part in traditional fair in Latehar

Latehar, Oct 03 (ANI): Hundreds of tribals take part in a traditional fair in Maoist-hit Latehar district of Jharkhand and offered prayers to the local deity. The annual fair is organised three days after Diwali and is held in seven villages of the district. According to tradition, the devotees in inebriated condition walk in a procession while others beat them. A Priest, Dheeraj Singh said people visit the fair in large numbers to get their wishes fulfilled. The tribals also danced to the beats of the drum to appease their deity. The centuries-old fair is held every year to keep the tradition alive.
