Surat, Dec 26 (ANI): At least 236 couples tied knot at a mass wedding ceremony in Surat city. A city-based diamond trader Mahesh Savani organised the ceremony for 236 girls who belonged to poor households, in which four brides are Muslim, one Christian and others are from Hindu background. Thousands of people attended the wedding celebrations. Mass marriages are conducted to help the deprived sections of the society and are usually conducted by non-governmental organisations or social service groups.
