Sufi saint disciples perform traditional dance form ‘Dambali’ in Kashmir

Srinagar (Jammu and Kashmir), Aug 21 (ANI): Hundreds of people in Kashmir gathered on Monday, to witness the traditional Sufi dance form, ‘Dambali’ in Srinagar. The performance comes as a fresh breeze in the tensed environment in the Valley. Men dressed in traditional attires were seen dancing to the drum beats as people from across the city watched them performing with full joy and enthusiasm. Head of Dambali group, Shabir Ahmad said the performance brings immense joy to the artists, and especially in the modern times and in front of modern people. Dambali is a dance form performed by the followers of Sufi saints to mark the festival. Every year, thousands of Dambali artists perform the dance at various shrines on Urs of different Sufi saints to seek their divine blessings and re-affirm their centuries old tradition of Kashmir.
