Retail Inflation rises to 4.88, industrial output stays muted at 2.22%

Mumbai/ Ludhiana/ Nagpur, Dec 13, (ANI): India’s retail inflation grew at 4.88 percent in November, citing an increase in foods and oil prices. The consumer vegetable inflation came in at 6.89 percent in November, while prices of pulses continued to fall -23 percent. As per the data released by the Government, the retail inflation, measured by Consumer Price Index (CPI) hit a seven-month high at 3.58 percent in October, while rising 3.63 percent in November last year. On the other hand, the housing inflation nearly grew 7.36 percent in November from 6.68 percent in October. People have cited heavy rain spell as the reason behind the inflation. Prices of tomatoes have increased from Rs. 60-70 to Rs. 20 per kg, and the prices of onions have also remained high. Prices of spinach have risen from Rs. 10 per kg to Rs. 20 per kg. Overall prices have risen 25%.
