Ramadan food delights markets ahead of the festival

Moradabad (UP), May 17 (ANI): Markets in Uttar Pradesh’s Moradabad filled with delicacies ahead of the festival of Ramadan. The ninth month of the Hijri lunar calendar, Ramadan commemorates the revelation of Quran, Islam’s holy book, and has traditionally been a time of religious fervor. It is the time of settling old disputes and behaving charitably towards neighbours and friends. The fast, in which food and even a sip of water is prohibited, is intended to bring devotees closer to god and remind them of those less fortunate. In Moradabad, market places bustled with people eager to buy new clothes, skullcaps, traditional Ramadan sweets and prayer material. Preparations for the festival are underway as Muslims stock up on groceries for evening meals to break dawn-to-dusk fasting during the month of Ramadan.
