Jagannath chariot festival begins in Nepal with fervour

Kathmandu (Nepal), July 15 (ANI): The annual festival of Jagannath Yatra commenced in Nepal’s capital, Kathmandu on Saturday with hundreds of devotees singing and dancing on the main roads. The annual chariot procession is organised by the ISKCON (International Society for Krishna Consciousness) in Nepal. This procession is a replica of the famous Jagannath Rath Yatra held annually in Jagannath Puri, Odisha since 10th-11th century. The chariot procession which started from Lainchaur area of Kathmandu toured the inner circle of the capital city with estimated over 5000 devotees. It is the 35th series of Jagannath Yatra that commenced in Nepal.
