Philadelphia. Amtrak engineer Brandon Bostian, who is now under scrutiny over his role in Train 188 Derailment in Philadelphia on Tuesday, does not remember much about it, according to his lawyer. But James Weir, Bostian’s best friend says he doubts there was any foul play. “He would never go even above five miles per hour in the car, and when I did, when I was driving, he would fuss at me.”

Bostian is now recovering from his injuries. But the NTSB says he has agreed to be interviewed by agency investigators trying to establish the cause of the accident.

“He was never one to do drugs. There’s got to be something else going on that nobody knows about yet.”

People who know Bostian have reportedly described him as quiet and unassuming. Now, they say he’s devastated.

“He is very distraught. He is very upset and he is very sorry.”

..and investigators hope he’ll soon be able to shed some light on exactly what went wrong.
