Arya Samaj Leader Agnivesh opposes Separate Settlement for Kashmiri Pundits

Srinagar: Arya Samaj leader Swami Agnivesh today while speaking on the Kashmiri Pundit issue said, that he is not in favour of a separate colony for the pundits and that there should be no boundaries.

Later Police detained him along with Jammu Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) chief Yasin Malik. The two were arrested while they were marching towards Narbal where a youngster was killed on Saturday morning.

Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Deputy Chief Minister Nirmal Singh on Saturday said that there is no space for violence and rebellion and that the J&K Government is taking actions.

Singh’s statement came after separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani called for a complete shutdown in the valley to protest against the death of a youth in an encounter with Army in Tral.

Masarat Alam, who was arrested over raising of pro-Pakistan slogans and hoisting Pakistan flags at a rally, has been remanded to 7-day police custody.
